HELP ME--Errors with "info for" & folder actions?

This is driving me crazy--I can, for example, get "alias of (info for (someFile))", but "folder of (info for(someFile))" dies with a "-1728"/

on adding folder items to thisFolder after receiving addedItems
	local theInfo
	local moreInfo
	set isFolder to folder of (info for (addedItems))

	return isFolder
end adding folder items to
