Thanks to everyone who offered solutions to my problem.

As I said in a follow-up, the simplest solution for my problem was not to make it a stay-open application. Then, once it exited the repeat loop, it quit automatically.

In the dozen years I've been scripting this was the first time I tried to write a stay-open app.
