formatting text in preferences won't save

  • Subject: formatting text in preferences won't save

i'm using mac os x 10.3.9 2.0 (v43.1) - AppleScript
1.9.3
and i need help figuring out how to make my formatting
changes stick.

I've tried everything I can think of. but my
preferences for text formatting still don't save from
one session in script editor to the next.

actually, the oddest thing is that the "new text"
formatting option will change and save... along with
other settings on other tabs in the preference panel
(editing, history, etc). but other items, like
"application keywords", "comments" "values" etc. will
*not* retain the color and font settings that i
change. i've tried hitting "apply". i've tried only
changing color setting for one item - closing,
restarting... but no matter what i do, my formatting
settings aren't saved after closing.

i've even dumped the preference files, tried to edit
the preference file to change the text color, but
nothing works.

i have the new applescript book by rosenthal, but
can't find anything in there about formatting
preferences that answer my question or help solve my
problem.

anyone else out there experiencing this or know how to
fix it?

thank you.
Evan
