The easy way to handle data arithmetic is to first convert dates to epoch time, usually seconds after Jan 0 1904 in the Macintosh world.

After that simple addition or subtraction of seconds is just arithmetic and converting back is a system call.

Surely AppleScript allows for conversions to and from epoch time. Doesn't it?
