Well, your subject line nearly got the right syntax. (You can even use 'get'
if you like.)
set nfo to info for alias "My HD:some:where:file.txt"
--> {an info for record, filled with goodies}
set createDate_ to creation date of nfo
-- etc.
Check the Standard Additions (default install) dictionary, look for the
command 'info for'.
