some questions on iTunes scripting

  • Thread-topic: some questions on iTunes scripting

Hello. After reading up on Applescript and perusing the iTunes dictionary, I find that I have two questions in my mind. Please bear in mind that I am writing a framework using objective C, and that I communicate with my scripts from my framework at the behest of a calling application.

My questions so far:
a) I need a way to notify the client application of various events- like track changes, state changes (e.g. pause->play), among others. What is the best way to approach this? Polling from the client application via my framework is possible, but that sounds expensive.
b) I need a way to maximize the video screen size (e.g. during video file playback) via a script. So far, I have not found a property that allows for this. This window does not seem to exist within the application object. So far, I've not seen any publicly available script which can do this. Does anyone know how to accomplish this?

thanks for your time,

Philip Lukidis
