The ID of an loaded font can be negative. 
When you do the command in your script editor 'tell application "QuarkXPress Passprt" to get font list' 
it will return all the fonts that's useable in quark and there are no missing fonts in this list. 
If you look at the IDs you will see that this list contains also fonts with an negative ID. 
That's the reason I was saying that the ID don't say anything about if the font is missing or not.
