While I found your (Matt's) technical report worth keeping, I would offer
that, journalistically, it seems over-wrought and just a bit hyperbolic.
There is no particular need to emotionally charge your report, Matt.

Using typing like "*any*" and CAPS is not more appropriate than simply
writing "any" or making your statements about expected results. You imply a
danger that does not exist, even while you otherwise calmly describe the
effect of removing certain files that are useful in one context but not
another.

My point is this: Your report does not generally convey the sense of the
cross-platform nature of the discussion, and the potential uselessness of
the files that the OP was inquiring about. Moving files from a Mac to a
Windows machine, or from Mac OS to Mac OS, or from disk format to disk
format, may rightfully and logically and appropriately leave no need to
retain such X-Finder-specific files, if they will be of no use (and may in
fact cause human confusion and error or extra file weight) once moved.

Nothing is lost of "the file" as most humans conceive it -- only of its
context and attributes in the Mac Finder environment. There is nothing
wrong, harmful, destructive or otherwise problematic with ditching that data
if it is not needed or desired.

I think you have a good write-up, but I would consider editing out the
repeated, though generally harmless, exaggerations (probably just
normalizing the *any* stuff and losing the CAPS would lend a more
informative and less alarmist tone.)

Good stuff, for sure, however. And should satisfy the OP's curiosity.
