A very humble response! I'm impressed, Andrew.
Yes, I have resorted to trying that technique as a newby, but as you
mentioned, for the purpose of getting a springboard to writing the script
correctly - most often what is provided is of no use anyway. To give
credit where its due, I have only been able to write correct scripts with
the massive assistance of this list (and some tedious web searches).
I still struggle with some of the most basic terminology at times. <sigh>
Anyway, thanks!

Yeah, I suppose it was a little harsh. My bad. I didn't mean to put you
off, Emile.
My point was that script recording is both one of AppleScript's strengths
and weaknesses at the same time.
It's often used by newbies as a launching pad to get into AppleScript. The
scripts it generates, though, are rarely what the author had in mind, and
never demonstrate good scripting techniques. Is this the fault of
AppleScript or the application designer who handles the AppleScript hooks?
I don't know - probably a bit of both, but probably also a bit of mis-set
expectations - the user expects the app to be psychic to understand what
he wants, rather than what he does.
I don't have an answer for it - I know there's value in a well-implemented
recording system, but it's hard to do.
As for the original post, since there wasn't a direct issue/error at hand
I figured I'd say what I saw wrong with it as-is :)
