FYI, jhead has pretty anemic metadata support compared to other tools these days... it's mainly around as a legacy tool.

That said, I did put it to work as a useful tool (one of several) for assessing potential damage to half a million JPEGs last year... and it, like any command line too, interfaces fine with AppleScript.
