I'd just like to mention that iMagine Photo can also read and write a fairly comprehensive range of exif information plus a couple of the IPTC fields. iMagine Photo is like a souped up version of Image Events, and can only be driven from AppleScript.

I have written a couple of Automator actions for iMagine Photo that relate specifically to image file metadata. One which sucks out the metadata and puts it into a tab delimited text file, that most spreadsheet programs like MS Excel can read. The other which allows you to add copyright, author and an info field to the metadata. These actions have all been written in applescript.

For more info about iMagine Photo go here: http://www.yvs.eu.com/ imagine.html
For some documentation on its metadata functionality go here: http:// www.yvs.eu.com/documentation/readingandwritin.html

I would be more than happy to make the AppleScript code for those actions available.

Kevin
