Not to get too picky, but applications like rsync, and applications like
Retrospect serve ENTIRELY different needs. Retrospect is overkill for simple
backups, but there's no way in hell rsync will tell me which tape from two
years ago I need to restore a file to the condition it was on the third
Monday in November of that year on a tape library.

Different applications, different needs. Backup and synchronization are NOT
the same.
