Thanks, Nigel. I asked about System Events just in case it was there but not
in the Finder. Since it's in the Finder, it doesn't matter about SE. (In
System Events 1.3.1 in OS 10.4.5, 'disk item' is «class ditm» in the
Disk-Folder-File Suite. 'item' is «class cobj» in the Standard Suite and has
almost no properties: just class, id, name and properties: it's a sort of
stub or base class. If 'file' and 'folder' both have a URL property back in
OS 10.2, those would be the classes to use to be compatible for all OS's.)
I think I might go with 'do shell script "chmod"' to be safe on privileges,
or will need to do a lot of testing with the Finder versions. Thanks again.
