With Transaction in System Events

  • Thread-topic: With Transaction in System Events

The System Events suite in the System Events application says that System
Events supports the Begin Transaction, End Transaction and Abort Transaction
commands. Supposedly, this works to set up "a bounded update session with
one or more files."

I can't make it work. Can anybody?

According to the dictionary, each of these commands takes a reference as a
direct parameter, but it doesn't say a reference to what. In the one classic
Mac OS application that used sessions, you would do this:

   make new <<class cSES>>

And pass the result to Begin Transaction. But this doesn't work in System
Events.
