In response to Peter's question, I've been inspired to consider
adding something like this to FastScripts. I happen to be working on
something else right now that might make it fairly easy for me to
present a "floating menu-like" window whenever a certain app becomes
frontmost, and take it away when an app is switched. FastScripts
already monitors the active application in order to provide app-
specific keyboard shortcuts, so this could be a natural extension.
My thought is that a "magic folder" in the application-specific
hierarchy would indicate to FastScripts that the contained scripts be
presented in this manner. For example, a folder:
~/Library/Scripts/Applications/Safari/PaletteScripts/
Would have its contents presented in such a palette whenever Safari
was frontmost. The window location would be user-positionable and
saved between launches of FastScripts.
If you would be interested in such a feature and would like to be
involved in trying a beta test release of such a thing, please
contact me off-list and I'll keep you posted.
Thanks,
Daniel Jalkut

Thanks to both of you for your replies.
I myself miss KeyQuencer... though I may be (almost) alone in that
department... and I don't even think it had the palette / toolbar
feature.
I guess I will actually have to install the Developer Tools one of
these
days. Laine, I will take a look at Toolbars as soon as I do. And J.
Stewart, I have DragThing in a .dmg, but haven't even looked at it
yet...
now on my list.
I have to admit, it's a rather schizophrenic (sp?) experience living
'between' OS 9 and Tiger... even with Classic up and running.

I've implemented my own 'solution' (see lower quarter of screenshot:
<http://www.mhtc.net/~bunnz/amadeus_commands.html>), but I know how
popular the idea of running scripts from a browser is here, and I
won't
mention it again.
All the same, I was somewhat surprised by the lack of a readily
available
device as the one I described. Seems a lead pipe cinch.

Off Topic and sort of an admin question...
I monitor this list from the web archive... and would occasionally
like
to address one of the members directly, rather than posting back to
the
whole list. All e-addresses are now hidden on the web, of
course... is
there any way to 'log in' as a member in order to find an individual's
address?
Forgive my omissions and excesses, please. It's Friday, and
tomorrow is
my self-appointed holiday.
"A happy fool I would rather be."
