Title: Some problems with FileMaker Pro 8
Hi fellows, I’m scratching my head with this, for me, inconsistent results.
I get the desire data if I script:
tell application "FileMaker Pro Advanced"
tell database "ForumInterface"
tell current layout --"Clientes / Info / Contactos"
name -------------------->> I get the name "Clientes / Info / Contactos"
cell "e01 Empresa" of record ID "88"--------->> I get the name of the clients company
So everything is ok, but if I say:
tell application "FileMaker Pro Advanced"
tell database "ForumInterface"
tell layout "Clientes / Info / Contactos"
name — here I get the expected & obvious result "Clientes / Info / Contactos"
cell "e01 Empresa" of record ID "88" but HERE Ive got an error “FileMaker Pro Advanced got an error: Object not found.”
????? Why? I’m frankly without ideas.
Do I missing something or what?
Anyone knows how to refer to a layout by it’s name?, because I’m trying to fill some value in a specific layout, but this layout will not be the current one. The database I’m working with, that we made to administrate Graphic Design Business is very, very complex, with lots of tables & layouts,, etc.
Maybe if I describe my challenge, someone can help me
I already have a script that export all the necessary data of an “Estimate” to InDesign thru a button in FM in a specific layout (this one will be always the current one), this script put the salutation referring to “Estimado” if is Male or “Estimada” if is female, but in many –the most– cases the field “Sex” in the related layout it’s not filed so the script needs to ask the user for the sex of the people, and use this information to write the appropriate word in the InDesing document, but also to fill the missing value in the related field of the appropriate layout in the FM database.
Any ideas?
TIA
