Forget the "do shell script". Just go to the shell and do it. Here's an example. ;-)
curl "http://www.silvercashcontest.com/images/bikini_03/gallery/bikini2005_[0001-1175].jpg" -o "bikini2005_#1.jpg"
I still like AppleScript, but taking care of this is way too long and cumbersome in AppleScript.

P.S. Make a folder for this somewhere and navigate to it. It's a lot of images to just drop in your home folder.
