And actually, I think Re: is a way of abbreviating the Latin "in re" meaning "in reference to".

You might also want to look for a header like this:

In-Reply-To: <email@hidden>

Many, but not all, mail clients add it with the unique ID of the message being replied to. If it's present the first word of a subject is likely a a Re: or the equivalent.
