Thanks a lot, this is close to perfection!!! But: the given voltage
is the battery voltage, not the voltage of the power supply. For the
latter, only the power itself is given in Watts. I will have to
compare several supplys for a test, including car-supplies, solar-
supplies etc. It would be extremely helpful to record all data
(voltage and amperage seperate) with apple script. Any more hints?

For more system_profiler info see man system_profiler and try
system_profiler -listDataTypes
