FYI, the usual UNIXy way to do that is just:
$ time osascript speed.scpt
Disregard my last remark about this command; teh output in OS X is a
lot friendlier than most UNIX time commands I've seen.
Which gets you subsecond resolution along with a breakdown of where
the CPU was spending its time.
