Disk and permissions are verified and repaired regularly here. Daily,
weekly, and monthly maintenance scripts are run as a routine course.
Some caches are cleared and .plist integrity checked somewhat less
often... but thank you for the suggestion.
It is not a problem with Script Editor. The affected item is a
standalone script application bundle... which - sometimes, as noted -
when run, works perfectly... then minutes later, with no alteration and
no apparent reason, fails.
The problem comes and goes. Last night, I did some sleuthing related to
its first occurrence, found a suspiciously dated pref file, tossed it,
and the problem - as if a switch was thrown - went away.
And then recurred ten minutes later.
This morning, on first test, the problem was still present. Then
magically vanished without meaningful intervention.
As near as I can tell, 'tis boojums and nothing less.
I just haven't figured out yet how to exorcise them.
