been able to get it by using a "choose file" command
and copying and pasting the result into my script.
That works fine on my computer but if I move the
script to another computer I am "screwed"
set path2desktop to path to desktop
or
set path2desktop to path to desktop as unicode text
or
set path2desktop to path to desktop as alias
