I wanted to make an Automator workflow that I could launch with a keyboard
shortcut with QuicKeys (also Spark or Proxi) to zip whatever was selected in
the Finder as individual archives in place without further interaction - no
progress bar or prompts. If that's something you could use, you might want
to try the code at the bottom of this page:

Moss stands for Mac OS Server, but also hasn't yet been gathered by any
rolling stones.
