tell application "Finder"

    set fold to (characters 1 thru -2 of (POSIX path of ("/MacHD/aTest/")))
    do shell script "ditto -ck " & quoted form of fold & space & quoted form
of (fold & ".zip")

end tell

Hello Paul - thanks for your help - when I run this script - I get a
different form of the same error: AppleScript error - can't get quoted form
of {"/", "M","a", ... etc}
