Just call it L10N. Avoids that whole s/z issue. :)

As far as character names, the ISO-10646 standard does have localized
names for its characters, but they are not endorsed by the Unicode
consortium or part of Unicode compliance.  So it's not surprising that
the character names you see are in English.

On Windows, which has similar issues, there are third-party
replacements for Character Map applications that include the localized
names (e.g. BabelMap); there may be something like that for OS X as
well, but I don't know.
