At least Ed's willing to put up his AppleScript for a comparison test.

While I for one am perfectly capable of implementing the complete InDesign+Excel-based workflow in Python or Ruby, I've got better things to do with my time than indulge Ed in pointless pissing contents. If he wants to fight in stupid language wars then he's free to do so; however, I recommend he takes it to an advocacy newsgroup or other appropriate forum instead of clogging up AppleScript-users with it.
