Yes. I have an AppleScript application, called "Reset Dock", that reads the applications Comment, which currently is "right end 50", then resets the Dock using these parameters. If these parameters are undecipherable, it asks for user input via dialogs. Putting the parameter into the file name is possible, too, but may not be a good idea.
