When I tried using this script on Tiger I had no signatures created in Mail and the script worked. But on Leopard, when I run the script with no signature, it threw an error.
I think that the fact that it didn't throw an error in Tiger is a bug; you were trying to get the names of items of an empty list of properties. In effect you were asking for
name of {} Is it compulsory to create signature on Leopard?
No, but if you want a property of a signature, you need to have a signature to get that property from.
