Newbie help needed: capturing keypress to record QuickTime timing

Hi. I am in sixth grade, and I am using QuickTime in a science project. I want to record the QuickTime frame index when someone presses a key while watching a QuickTime video. My dad figures AppleScript is the way to go, but he's never used it before.

Can someone help me get started or point me to some sample scripts? Here is what I want the script to do:

1. Start playing the video.
2. Record the frame index every time the person presses a key.
3. Ask for the person's age and gender and record that information, too.
4. Save everything to a file.

Thanks.

Brodey
