The fact that the "Get(LayoutName)" function fails to return anything

Is there at least one record? I would expect this failure if there are

Bruce?
A layout is an element of application via window or document/database.
As a layout is a compulsory element of a filemaker database I would
expect that the only way there is no layout is if there is no open
databases.
I've just created a new database. It has no fields and no records, it
has a table and a layout. The application made them. When I run a
scriptmaker script 'if get(layoutname) = "untitled" then beep' I hear a
beep.
