You can determine if an ink is process. You can change trap order. The print ink property determines if the ink will print.
For part 1 of your original question, try cycling through every color to check if its model is spot. if it is, change its alias ink name to the color of your choosing.
For part 2, you'll have to cycle through the images to determine its space attribute.
This is all untested and off the cuff, but maybe it will help get you started.
A great resource for InDesign scripting is AppleScripting InDesign - CS Version by Shirley W. Hopkins. I had picked up a copy on Amazon. Lots of code snippets on a CD that comes with the book. Not updated for CS2, but it will get you far enough to make CS2 available by looking at the dictionary. For the most part, it just works.
