relinking XML files in InDesign CS2

Can anyone help me automate the relinking of XML files in InDesign CS2? It works fine when done from the links palate manually. It seems that some link suite commands fail when there are XML files linked. It does not happen when there are only pictures linked. Since the XML files are the ones that I need to relink, I have a serious problem. I can't seem to get a reference to an XML link, so I can't use the relink command. I guess that InDesign does not treat these like other links?
Perhaps there is some sneaky way to get the object reference of these links, or some other way of doing the relinking?
I really need some help here since there are thousands of links to update.
Thanks,

Alex
