This is a significant matter of opinion, regarding XSLT (not regarding
Mark's tools).

It presents benefits in some very narrow situations, in my experience.
Additionally, it is YAML [*] and if we are to really enjoy the benefits of
XML, then we could all probably do without inserting even more meta-layers
between the XML and ourselves.

YMMV, of course.  (And XSLT is excellent for FileMaker files, if you wish to
use some of the pre-made parsers for that software.)
