When I send myself a HTML message and ask for "content" there is no problem, so I'm having a lot of trouble getting a handle on the problem of why some HTML messages gladly give up their content to AppleScript and some HTML messages do not, and how to identify the boogers ahead of time.

I wrote a shareware AppleScripted application named "Mail Saver" which contains the following paragraph in the documentation ...

Messages with HTML content
Messages can have content of various types, including HTML. HTML content often displays images which are located on a remote server and are neither attachments to the message nor stored on your computer. (If you uncheck the Display remote images in HTML messages box in Mail's Viewing Preference, these messages show a Load Images button.) If you save such a message using Mail Saver, the images may no longer be available when you next open the file. The only reliable way to save a messages with remote HTML images is to use Save as PDF... in the Print dialog.

Perhaps when the 'content' encounters image content that's not there, it has a problem. Do the problematic HTML messages contain (remote) images?
