Right. And a fine distinction.
But, what I meant (and not in any disagreement with this discussion) is that
that those scriptable apps have _AS_ dictionaries. Or, rather, dictionaries
that provide a (generally...more or less) consistency within the language.
Classes, properties, etc. vary, but they exist. Learning to /implement/ a
given dictionary is still /within/ the AS language.
Learning "/^'${1} -huNh \'" is a wholly other thing.
(But, then again, one might see something similar in a Satimage command,
so... 8-| )
I kind of like occasional reflection on these topics, as there is a changing
landscape always. New tools come, are evaluated, and either survive or
don't. Processes get mixed. Languages interact.
Any given "task" has, most often, many possible codeflows. And the choices
made are based on many factors, most of which are /not/ about the language
of choice, but about other issues specific to the questioner. (And
sometimes the questioner may not even know of alternatives, and so providing
them is absolutely appropriate.)
Good stuff, all of it. And not socially irrelevant.
