To me "vanilla Applescript" means that my script, regardless of what it calls, contains only Applescript terminology.

That's probably pretty close to what it should mean but I get the impression that to a lot of us it means no osax calls or no calls to something Apple didn't supply and also excludes the shells even though supplied by Apple. If you limit yourself to this you can make scripting somethings very difficult and the result may be very large and slow scripts.


Personally I don't like the term "vanilla Applescript" because I've never been able to script getting vanilla extract from the beans.
