And personally, I think that anyone who's using English as their sole language on a regular basis should make a point of learning at least one other language. Most don't, which is their loss, but they still seem to get by OK most of the time.

Learning programming languages just isn't central to some peoples' live, I guess.

My grandmother can program her oven, microwave, and TV. What the geek language community hasn't learned is how to present itself in form palatable and "natural" to the majority. Two-way street and all that.


Imagine, on a mailing list dedicated to scripting, at least a dozen contributors having trouble pimping 'cd', 'ls', and regular expressions :-).
