Yes but the question is - with respect to has' advice - does that other language have to be hieroglyphic?
A hieroglyphic in the modern sense is an icon. I think the word you might use instead is "arcane".
However, some sort of icon based solution will probably appeal to the most people. Good icons are worth a lot these days. That's because they offer an language free way to communicate. Like who doesn't know what the signs for Mens, Ladies, and Handicapped mean?
Consider what you do in a Finder "Find" window. Imagine in a script editor window if you could just drag off some "Find" widgets with those kind of criteria into a script and they would query and translate from:
{begins with: "1325010", character range: "a" to "z", ends with: any}
to: "1325010[a-z]*".
