With respect, Ed, that's just nonsense. Yes, there have been some shell
scripts posted that are more work than "raw" AS, but they've been a tiny
minority (and still educational).

Shell scripting is one of the strongest tools in an AS scripter's armoury --
it fills gaps and gets around things like the buggy Finder -- and to not
expose newcomers to it would be doing them a grave disservice.
