The fact that the script never got to the "close" statement is most likely the problem. It is leaving the file open when it errors. I will usually wrap my write statements in a try handler like this, just in case:

Nope, because, as I said, it happens even when I created a new file, using "choose file name"; doing it anywhere else other than the desktop, it works properly.
