Apologies for a very late reply, but because I didn't notice any responses,
I'm sending one. if you want to pick it up again, I have had some success by
manipulating the sidebar preferences file, "com.apple.sidebarlists.plist".
Look at <http://lonestar.utsa.edu/llee/applescript/worksets.html> and find
"Sidebar sets".
