I am not sure if this belongs here, and I have posted it over on
Adobe's fourm but have not heard any replies so I thought I'd ask it
here also.
I have a apple script that I use to copy pdf files from my G5
desktop into a folder on our PDF Archive server. I have noticed that
there are a lot of pdfs that when I try to open them after they have
been copied I will get the message (Item "name of pdf file" is used
by Mac OS X and cannot be opened.) and if I try to copy the file(s)
from the server it gives me the message (You may need to enter the
name and password to change the item named "name of pdf file".) I am
wondering if anyone can help me and let me know what causes this
problem and how to correct it. It doesn't do it on all pdf files
just a few and far between problem.
I don't know that specific problem but I would blame Spotlight first.
If I'm right, either you can disable Spotlight, or you implement some
way to wait a few seconds before trying again to open the file.
