Title: Re: PDF File says in use by Mac OS X
Spotlight is not the problem as I use OSX 10.3.9 and just use a regular script that gets activated by CronniX. I did double check the permissions and I do have rights to the files, and I also had our IT administrator try to copy or open them on the actual server but he gets the same messages I get. I did notice that when I look at the file size it says 0, it seems like the pdfs didn’t get copied correctly and I’m just confused on why it would be some pdfs and not all of them.
Thanks for the tips.

Hi Dusty,
If spotlight is not the culprit, then I would have thought that you have a permissions problem when the files are copied. Check the permissions for the file and make sure that you have rights to it after it has been copied.

I am not sure if this belongs here, and I have posted it over on Adobe's fourm but have not heard any replies so I thought I'd ask it here also.
I have a apple script that I use to copy pdf files from my G5 desktop into a folder on our PDF Archive server. I have noticed that there are a lot of pdfs that when I try to open them after they have been copied I will get the message (Item "name of pdf file" is used by Mac OS X and cannot be opened.) and if I try to copy the file(s) from the server it gives me the message (You may need to enter the name and password to change the item named "name of pdf file".) I am wondering if anyone can help me and let me know what causes this problem and how to correct it. It doesn't do it on all pdf files just a few and far between problem.
Thanks

Music creates order out of chaos: for rhythm imposes unanimity upon the divergent, melody imposes continuity upon the disjointed, and harmony imposes compatibility upon the incongruous.
