OK, thanks Richard. The paste effect is what I want to mimic.
Maybe I should just draw it "somewhere", and cut and paste it.
It would however be nice to do it in one go, so if anyone has a cunning tip I would appreciate it.

How do I get the bounds of what is currently visible in InDesign?

I want to make a new picture box and place a picture in it, right in
the middle of where the user is looking.
