Title: Re: Eject in Leopard - some clues
On 15.11.2007 16:58, "Claus Gerhardt" <email@hidden> spake thus:

I never experienced that do shell scripts would run slower than direct Applescripts. Indeed ejecting a Fire Wire hard drive via a do shell script happens in less than a second.

Claus

Yes Claus, but we’re talking about a device whose properties contain ejectable:false, which might explain the lagging...

I now have put into my srcipt a check for the ejectable status and uses either Finder eject disk or the (slower-for-a-PCcard-adapted-compact-flash-card) shell script.

 Hi all,

Thanks for your recent input on this baffling subject.

After a few tests, here are my conclusions:

Firewire Harddrive, CD/DVD and USB connected card readers (containing the same CompactFlash card I initally had a problem ejecting) return in their properties that they are ejectable.

In the case of a PCcard with my CompactFlash card in an adapter this returns ejectable:false

Would any of you (and why not Mr. Nebel, if he has an idea why) car to comment ?

I now hav e to throw a shell command at it – and that takes about 10 seconds to complete. Hardly helpful when working a photo report in stressful conditions.

 Best,

 j.
