On Leopard, and I think Tiger IIRC, the cron job will run *after* the
machine wakes from sleep if it was sleeping when it should have run.

This didn't work for me on Tiger ... in fact I sometimes used this as a "feature" for my backup scripts ;-)


My scripts created disk images that I uploaded to my linux box and sometimes when I was traveling or had a slow internet connection I just put the MBP to sleep for a few minutes to prevent it from running the backup (and it was a good excuse to stretch my legs).
