I've got an application called "Red Label" that marks with a red lable any item on your desktop that you should probably move to another location. It's freeware, but I never got around to posting it anywhere. Probably should. Here's the instructions ...

set explanation to "Desktop icons which already have a label, alias files and webloc files are not eligible for modification and neither are icons of folders containing no eligable items." & return & return ¬
& "Red ... gives all eligable icons on your desktop a RED label." & return ¬
& "(These are items you should remove from your desktop.)" & return & return ¬
& "Clear ... clears all RED labels."
"Red Label " & version of (path to me)
tell me to display alert the result message explanation buttons {"Cancel", "Clear", "Red"} default button 3

Ask and I'll send a copy OL.
