I would throw Smile's "Make an Applescript String" at it and see what
happens. I have rarely, if ever, been disappointed by that command.
WorkSpaces (<http://lonestar.utsa.edu/llee/applescript/worksets.html>) still
works after all these years (mostly, anyway).
