i think i've got the basics, but i have added a script to run post-install, however it doesn't seem to run.

My installer packages were basic and didn't use any custom scripts. However I think there are a few comments/documentation links available via google (PackageMaker post-install script).

Those who could debug your script will have to see it to make meaningful suggestions.

Note that once you run your installer for testing purposes, you have to delete the receipt for it in /Library/Receipts and more or less manually restore things in order to run it again. I found this last part particularly tedious :-(
