Do you know about Shift-Command-4 to get a screenshot of just a dragged area? Or Shift-Command-4, then Spacebar, then click to get a screenshot of just a window?

The Solution I found is:
1. Find the window I want to capture
2. Move it to the screen's center
3. Take a screenshot
4. Crop to the desired size
